SAGINAW, MI — Stocked with non-perishable food items, a food pantry located inside a local middle school is ready to serve students and their families who are in need.

The Tiger’s Den inside Thompson Middle School, 3021 Court, openedĀ  Wednesday, March 22.

The pantry is stocked with canned goods, crackers, soups, water, juice, pasta, grains, cereal, peanut butter and shelf-stable milk.

“If a kid is in need, we can leave here with the comfort that they have been provided something to eat,” said Assistant Principal Walter McCall.

Eastern Michigan Food Bank supplies food for the pantry and is managed by school staff and students. Saginaw Public School District, SodexoMagic and community partners provide financial support for the pantry, according to district officials.
